MEA Student Art Exhibit
The eighth annual Student Art Exhibit was held at MEA's Augusta headquarters on Sunday, March 7, drawing a crowd of sixty or more. The event, which is coordinated by the Maine Art Education Association (MAEA), received 27 entries for display.
MAEA members select one student piece for the show from their students representing works from grades two through 12. The art is then professionally framed thanks to funding from Horace Mann Insurance Company, which also hosted an opening reception for students, families and friends.
"This show is a lot of fun and it demonstrates the good work that is taking place in our schools," says MEA President Chris Galgay. "MEA benefits from the beauty of the new art work that is hung in our lobby each year; the students get their art framed; and, the art teachers are recognized for the talent and insight they nurture in their classrooms."
This acrylic paint on paper rendition of a vibrant red fox submitted by Trisha Poulin, a 7th grader at Lewiston Middle School, is entitled "Mid-Morning." It was selected by art teacher Kate Myrand.
