Retired educators can help Families And Children Together (FACT)
is looking for individuals in Maine, such as retired educators, interested in volunteering with our Maine Kids-Kin Program. The Maine Kids-Kin Program serves families where grandparents, aunts, uncles or other relatives have stepped in to raise the children.

They are currently seeking volunteers for our new court navigator program. These volunteers will support clients who are going to court to ensure that their children are living in a safe home. Volunteers will provide clients with emotional support, help them to understand the court process, and may even accompany clients to court.

Volunteers will receive training, support from FACT staff, and reimbursement for expenses. For more information, please contact Anna Libby at 207-941-2347 or alibby@mainekids-kin.org.

Dealing with job-related stress?

The American Psychological Association (APA) has developed a free brochure to help inform the friends and family of new teachers about the signs of job-related stress. This downloadable brochure, Teaching is Fundamental: Ideas for Friends and Spouses Supporting Teachers' Early Career Challenges http://www.apa.org/ed/schools/cpse/, includes strategies for recognizing signs of teacher stress, ideas to help reduce teacher stress, and insights into the particular times during the school year when stress is likely to increase. It aims to inform those close to teachers about what to expect during their loved one's first year in the classroom, and how they can offer support and encouragement.
